Anyone ready for Halloween...

No? too bad. :) Here's another invitation project I created for a friend. The creepy creatures are the host's of the party. Thanks for the creative freedom guys!

Fun Poster

Here's a collaborative piece I worked on for a farewell party we had for a coworker. The ex-coworker was a comic book fan and, well, let's just say he didn't like squid. So I got some people together to write a quick character development, story and layout. (Thanks to Andy for the story and the all important frame, Kevin for character advice and Ron for tracing out all of the panels.) It was a huge success!... we need to set up a Sailfin fan club on line. HA! love it...

Birthday invitation

Here's a fun little birthday invitation I created for a friend. The colors were a little odd to work with and not seem like a Halloween invitation. But on the other hand, I think using orange and black helped keep these invitations masculine at the same time. I had them printed and cut them all out by hand. They turned out really nice.

Luau invitation 09'

Here's the front of a Luau invitation post card I designed last year for a friend. These invitations are always a lot of fun to work on. On this one I wanted to try creating a vintage feel. As a graphic designer I know not to use marker renderings as final pieces but in a pinch I felt it was an acceptable alternative to water color. The type was created in Illustrator... I had tried hand rendering the "luau" text but was unsuccessful. Overall, though, I'm really happy with this piece.

more tshirt designs

This was an update to a shirt already being sold at The Dog House. I had fun gussying it up... adding shadows to the spikes and using a different font for the "M" & "U".

First Post!

So I'd like to start off by saying "Welcome to Katie did Art." My first several posts are going to be of artwork that I have produced within the past year. And then I will try to keep a you up to date with my latest projects... or just random awesomeness. Enjoy all encompassingly. HA!

The above image is a t-shirt design I created in my spare time and later sold to a local t-shirt shop called The Dog House.
