Holiday Yeti

AHhaha!. The holiday Yeti. It brings a smile to my face parts. I created this little guy out of materials that have been lying about for a while... years. Except for the Fimo clay, which I used to create the eyes, nose, hands and feet. Man, it felt good to sit down and work with my hands. Big Thanks to my friend Mandy for taking the adorable photos for me!

update

My creative ADD has taken hold of me again... after the Breast Cancer Awareness design I created a design for Skippers Tavern and Grill. Then I decided to create an undead doll to celebrate halloween-autumn. And tonight I've been working on a Holiday Yeti to help boost my spirits during the impending winter season... it's cute as hell and hope to post pictures of it soon. :) Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

My "Fresh Pairs" shirts finally got printed!!! AH. Feels good to have them done... it's so nerve racking to rely on an outside source to complete my artwork. Breast Cancer Awareness

This T-shirt design will be used as a fundraiser for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer/Cancer Society. Always enjoy creating these shirts. I try to keep them fun, boarder line work appropriate, and attractive enough for people to wear more than once a year. This design was inspired by vintage fruit containers/advertisements. Enjoy you fresh pairs!

I haven't placed links in my post before so I'm not sure how this is going to look. So here's a test of the placement for future reference. Feel free to follow the link, if it works! :)

Luau time

I've recently created another Luau invitation! PARTY!! I'll post a copy of the digital file later this evening... I'm unable to transfer the photos I had promised to post from my camera to my computer. AND I want to say that I had no idea I could access my blog from work (probably would have updated this sooner) Sorry ladies!!!

Not only is it almost Luau time, it's almost CAMPING TIME as well! I can hardly wait!!

Gobbletie-gook

Okay, so I haven't posted any artwork in about a week for those of you keeping track... but I will be posting some stuff here in the next day or two. I haven't been in the habit of taking pictures of my artwork so the next couple of days will be spent getting pictures of the items that can not be scanned or didn't come from a digital format... what I tend to think of as REAL art. So stay tuned. And take care!

Fun Poster

Here's a collaborative piece I worked on for a farewell party we had for a coworker. The ex-coworker was a comic book fan and, well, let's just say he didn't like squid. So I got some people together to write a quick character development, story and layout. (Thanks to Andy for the story and the all important frame, Kevin for character advice and Ron for tracing out all of the panels.) It was a huge success!... we need to set up a Sailfin fan club on line. HA! love it...

Birthday invitation

Here's a fun little birthday invitation I created for a friend. The colors were a little odd to work with and not seem like a Halloween invitation. But on the other hand, I think using orange and black helped keep these invitations masculine at the same time. I had them printed and cut them all out by hand. They turned out really nice.

Luau invitation 09'

Here's the front of a Luau invitation post card I designed last year for a friend. These invitations are always a lot of fun to work on. On this one I wanted to try creating a vintage feel. As a graphic designer I know not to use marker renderings as final pieces but in a pinch I felt it was an acceptable alternative to water color. The type was created in Illustrator... I had tried hand rendering the "luau" text but was unsuccessful. Overall, though, I'm really happy with this piece.

more tshirt designs

This was an update to a shirt already being sold at The Dog House. I had fun gussying it up... adding shadows to the spikes and using a different font for the "M" & "U".

First Post!

So I'd like to start off by saying "Welcome to Katie did Art." My first several posts are going to be of artwork that I have produced within the past year. And then I will try to keep a you up to date with my latest projects... or just random awesomeness. Enjoy all encompassingly. HA!

The above image is a t-shirt design I created in my spare time and later sold to a local t-shirt shop called The Dog House.
